Michael Jackson costumes to go on world tour- Good Stories Good …

May 21st, 2012

A collection of costumes worn by the late Michael Jackson is going on a global tour starting next month ahead of an auction in Beverly Hills in December, Julien’s Auctions said on Tuesday.

The exhibit, to open in Santiago, Chile on Friday, will include one of the singer’s signature crystal-covered gloves, a military-style jacket he wore for the Soul Train awards in 1989 and a silver spandex leotard Jackson wore during his “Bad” tour in 1987.

A helmet wired with battery powered lights that Jackson wore for the 2001 special concert at New York’s Madison Square Garden that marked his 30 years as a solo entertainer will also go on display.

The 50-100 costumes to be exhibited were designed by Jackson’s long-time Los Angeles-based collaborators Dennis Tompkins and Michael Bush, who spent 25 years creating his stage and personal clothes.

The items were mostly gifted back to Tompkins and Bush by the singer, and many are signed by him, auctioneer Darren Julien said.

The exhibit will open on Friday at the Museo de la Moda in Santiago, Chile and tour cities in Europe and Asia, including China and Japan, ahead of the auction in Beverly Hills on Dec 2.

A portion of the proceeds will go to the charities Guide Dogs of America and the Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas.

Jackson died aged 50 in June 2009 in Los Angeles from an overdose of the anesthetic propofol and sedatives. His personal doctor is currently serving a four year jail term for involuntary manslaughter.

50′s Themed Costumes? You Bet! |

May 18th, 2012

A few weekends ago, I happened to be at a stoplight waiting for it to turn green. While I was waiting, I group of young girls dressed up to the nines on their way to some sort of dance crossed the intersection in front of me.

I was thinking about how those dresses were so pretty and it (of course, right?) made me think of dressing up. It occurred to me how much fun you could have getting a group of young kids dress up together for a 50′s themed Halloween party.

I could just picture having the young men wearing muscle t-shirts and jeans, and having all of the girls in poofy poodle skirts dance the night away in bobby socks. Don’t forget the bright pink lipstick for the girls, and the extra think hair gel for the guys!

There are so many ways to dress up for Halloween, and sometimes it’s fun to step outside the witch/vampire mold. A 50s themed Halloween party can be an amazing night for everyone, and just think of all the options for girls dress up costumes  there are pink jackets, sock hop style dresses and those great cat-eye glasses from the 50s.

Can’t go wrong with cat-eye glasses as an accessory.

You can give the kids vintage glass bottles of soda to drink, complete with straws and have cheeseburgers and fries to eat. You could even let them watch the movie, “Grease” and see if a friend would give them short, safe motor-cycle rides.

Oh, and don’t forget to play the song the “Monster Mash” at the party, and let them watch at least one scary movie to make sure to get the Halloween flavor in.

A Sock Hop Halloween Party? Why not!?

Imaginative and Entertaining Adult Costumes

May 11th, 2012

Costumes are not just for youngsters, adults can also have fashion for fun! Adults are now able to create adult costumes that show off their interests or favorite characters. Dont be disheartened if you think youre running out of creative ideas. You may possibly not have considered your other choices yet. Arrange your adult costumes for you and your buddies and have a fun time getting amazing costumes that stand out from the others.

-Group or Couple Costumes

You will enjoy fashion for fun especially if it comes in twos or in groups. Try creating adult costumes in sets or acquire those that match up each other. Some go with effortless concepts like being bottles of salt and pepper or ketchup and mustard, while youll find other people who wish to have more sophisticated attires. Fancy king and queen costumes, for instance, look fantastic in any party. Ensure you use the same motif.

You and your partner need to try dressing up as superheroes. He may be Superman while you could be Wonder Woman. Should you go as a group, try donning the attires of the Avengers. Sci-fi movies and comics are wonderful sources of inspiration. Look at the latest movies and see the latest get-ups. Some are simple and easy to copy with materials available in your home. Classic costumes work effectively. Men and women can see police costumes or dress up as a doctor and nurse duo. Couple attires can also be unusual and play off each other. For instance, rather than two cops, the other one could arrive as a prisoner.

-Creepy Characters

Zombies, ghouls, witches, and mummies are costume ideas that wont fade away. Theyre also uncomplicated and can be completed with the best make-up and accessories. Zombies are actually an excellent start. Try putting on tattered old clothes you possibly can design. Dash some reddish to brownish paint and youre set.

For footwear, tattered shoes will do. Just what youll need to be a creepy looking zombie is the correct make-up. You could find many of these available at local shops. You may also do some research on the web for making home-made ghoul make-up.

-Quirky and Original

If you want a bold costume which will definitely draw attention, imagine a costume nobody else will be thinking of wearing. Select the unconventional. Think about books or movies which are not as well known or are less popular when it comes to Halloween costumes. You can try to be witty and go as a concept. You may also arrive as a historical figure. Wear a hat with a phony apple glued to the top and inform people youre Isaac Newton. You may also have on a lab coat, glasses, and white wig and say you are Albert Einstein.

Costume parties give you the chance to have fashion for fun. Do more research on the web and you are able to stumble upon original and fun costume tips.

The outfits and stage costumes of Macross Frontier Post 1 of 9 …

May 11th, 2012

One of the things I like most about Macross F is the outfits.  The wardrobe of both Ranka and Sheryl really go far above that of most series in terms of amount, effort and quality.   So, thus, this is my tribute to the outfits of the show.  I admit am not really knowledgeable about such things enough to talk about them so my commentary will not be all that great here but look forward to many many pictures to make up for that.  I have so many that I split this up into nine blog posts.  Fair warning 95% of all this is Ranka, I simple don’t enjoy Sheryl’s outfits for whatever reason, however, I did try my best to put something in here for her.

For reference here is the upcoming posts to look forward too.  I have no ETA on any of this so it will be published when it’s ready.

1. Ranka’s best #20-11 (currently here)

2. Ranka’s best #10-8

3. Best fan made outfits for Ranka

4. Ranka’s best #7-6

5. Ranka’s best #5-4

6. Ranka’s school uniforms, outfits in 2012 and Sheryl’s top 5

7. Ranka’s best #3-2

8. Miscellaneous awards

9. Ranka’s number one outfit

Now on to the main post.

This one made it on my list mostly for sentimental reasons for being in my favorite music video.  I really do like it though and those shoes are really cute.

I call this the otaku costume.  The amount of jokes you could make here is nearly limitless but it’s very cute anyways and if you don’t like it she’ll shoot you!

This one didn’t get nearly enough screen time only being shown briefly during the start of Sayonara no Tsubasa.  The hat is the best part of it.

One of the few on my list not be in the anime in any shape or form I still like it enough to get to number 17.  Sort of feels Christmas like but this one shows that Ranka needs to wear more mini-hats.

I remember this as the final outfit ever shown in Macross F during the credits.  Regardless, it still is a great outfit and sort of feels different from the other ones but still cute.

Just ignore the wolves and a under-dressed Sheryl here, if you can, this is another one that never made it into the anime anywhere.  That big back ribbon and the orange and black colors look really good on her so that got it on my list.

I think sometimes this one felt a little too childish for Ranka but some times she just looked very cute in it.  The cuteness of above screenshot alone got this one on my list at 14.

This one I felt was a little plain for a movie that seemed to make her outfits anything but.  However, like number 14 this image alone got her up on this list this far because it’s just one of the best out there.  Silly reason I know, but I never claimed to be unbiased or fair and balanced in this.

This is one of her most well-known dresses and the one she is wearing the first time we meet her.  I’ve always like these kinds of Chinese dresses although this one felt a little off for some reason but for the other reasons it gets up to number 12 for me.

Finally, for now, we have at number 11 her final dress in Sayonara no Tsubasa.  Simple yet beautiful and suites her perfectly.  Too bad she couldn’t be happier here but well at least she was still amazing and now free to find someone more worthy (if there is anyone in the universe on or near her level). :D

Charlize Theron battled 'Snow White and the Huntsman' costumes …

May 8th, 2012

snow-white-and-the-huntsman-charlize-theron-kristen-stewartIf the trailers are to be believed, Charlize Theron is the perfect choice for the Evil Queen in “Snow White and the Huntsman.” She’s stunning, she’s a great actor and her voice is dripping with menace. MTV will be running “MTV First: Snow White and the Huntsman” at 7:56 p.m. ET and they have some previews about Theron’s battle with her costumes.

“The costumes were more damaging than the actual fight sequences. I was way more bruised from my costume than I was from
[fighting with Stewart],” she says. “Doing a fight sequence in your sweatpants is
different than wearing an 80-pound steel thing. I don’t know, you were
in leather,” she tells co-star Chris Hemsworth. “It’s different.
[Stewart] was in full metal, I was in full metal, just getting down, it
took us four hours.”

Well, she may have had a rough time, but she looks lovely doing it. Check out the trailer below and tune in to see the preview tonight on MTV. “Snow White and the Huntsman” premieres on June 1.
